Dealing with bugs in Warface
Dear players!
Today we have fixed the bug that could influence the game process greatly. It allowed players to move a bomb to another place while planting it, which led to a wide range of exploits in Plant the Bomb mode and Ranked games. Now that the issue has been resolved, it is safe to use it as an example of how we deal with problems that appear in the game.
Revealing and fixing
We received first detailed reports with a proper description of this bug on February, the 15th. We would like to thank everyone who revealed it and submitted the information about it to our technical support. Thanks to these players, the developers started dealing with the exploit immediately.
The glitch was a bit difficult to fix as it was not getting reproduced on the tests servers. That is why it took us the whole weekend to fix it. Still, on Monday we got first results, and on Thursday we successfully installed the hotfix on our live servers.
A couple of videos detailing bug exploit mechanics have been uploaded since. You might have noticed some strange issues in PTB and Ranked when the bomb was not present at places where it had to be. We have also dealt with players who abused this issue, once again thanks to your contribution.
Your contribution
As you can see, the exploit was fixed quite fast because of your help, your contribution and your cooperation. Do you want to make our game better? Here are the tips on how you can do it.
- Please report the explots to the Customer Support only. Support specialists are the ones who forward the issues to Crytek, the developers. We will highly appreciate it if you strictly follow the guidelines on how to make a proper bug report, as this fastens the process of dealing with existing issues.
- Spreading the information about the bug on our public platforms has two serious drawbacks. Firstly, no matter where you post this information, it will still be forwarded to Support, slowing down the fixing process. Secondly, some players not aware of the issue before would make use of your message, gaining unfair advantage. That is why Customer Support is the best option.
- Please note that bugs vary in terms of urgency, priority and fixing time. However, it does not mean some are getting ignored. Do not feel discouraged if you keep seeing the glitch you reported earlier: we can assure you that we (publisher and developers) work on all issues you report to us.
