Special Operations

Beginner’s Guide
Special Operations

Game Overview

Prepare for the hardest and longest missions in Warface so far. Teamwork is the key in these missions. Get your hands on heavy artillery and make sure that your equipment is fully repaired before jumping in. Master your class and play as a team if you want to succeed.

Access Tokens

Access tokens are required to access those missions. One Access Token is consumed as soon as you reach the first checkpoint in a Special Operation.

Five Access Tokens are granted daily, with a limit of up to ten tokens. You can buy more if you use them all up, the price is 100 K for 1 token.

Black Shark

Minimum level: 5

Blackwood is growing their strength in the Balkans. This has to stop. It's time to smash them like a wrecking ball. Ready up and foil their sinister plans.

All the intel gathered by our intelligence team is available in our special 'Black Shark' dossier, which you can find here: http://pc.warface.com/hq/promo/updates/blackshark

Anubis

Minimum level: 5

Only the best Warface warriors will outlast Anubis' killer challenges. Everyone else can kiss goodbye to their souls.

We've compiled all the intel our infiltration team was able to gather in a special 'Anubis' dossier, which you can find here: http://pc.warface.com/hq/promo/updates/anubis/

Your training will come firmly into play as you head into combat with Blackwood's deadliest troops – including waves of deadly cyborg soldiers.

Earth Shaker

Minimum level: 10

Blackwood is at it again. Intel reveals our enemy has built a geothermal power plant inside a giant volcano to power up their Seismic Activity Generator (SAG) – an advanced super weapon which can cause devastation on a global scale. We believe Blackwood is about to push the button on its first SAG test. That can't happen.

We've compiled all the intel our infiltration team was able to gather in a special 'Earth Shaker' dossier, which you can find here: http://pc.warface.com/hq/promo/updates/earthshaker
Your mission, Soldier, is to enter Blackwood's volcanic lair at ground level and fight your way to the top. Teamwork is a top priority, or this cave will be your final resting place. The mad professors employed by Blackwood hide behind force fields and gun turrets that can only be taken out with unique tactics. So keep your guard up, and don't let us down.

Cyber Horde

Minimum level: 5

It's time to face the darkness and prove you fear nothing!
One of Blackwood's biological laboratories is out of control. Blackwood has been working on a concept of "super soldiers" and as result of a critical failure in its lab, the whole area is now controlled by experimental, deadly Cyborgs.
The Warface team must escort a vehicle with an EMP across a dark forest and reach the centre of the laboratory complex to destroy it, shutting down its generators and ending the remote control of the Cyborgs.

Cold Peak

Minimum level: 25

Get set for a breathtaking new Co-op experience that demands tenacious teamwork and peak performance from every player. Work as a team or face the worst winter on record as you travel to a deadly new frontier in Warface. Only soldiers with an ice cool disposition and the ability to play their part stand a chance of reaching the summit.

Take a walk on the wild side with your teammates and face off against the enemy in stunning new surroundings. Operation Cold Peak blends exploration and devastation as you engage Blackwood on a new front and discover the true scale of their military might. Every class of soldier will have to play their part to advance through three different snow-bound stages, and rookie Warface recruits had better sharpen their skills before they even dare to enter territory this hostile.

Resource Gathering

In the Cold Peak missions, resources are necessary to perform some key objectives and to also build strategic defensive options. Resources can be found in special boxes scattered around the map and are also slowly gathered by killing enemies. By completing secondary objectives, you'll be rewarded with additional resources that you can use to deploy mines, barriers, explosive barrels and other deterrents around your base. Of course, collecting that currency means you'll need to break cover and work quickly between waves of attackers – or venture out in the heat of battle, if you're feeling especially brave

Act I – Spearhead

Objective:

The main objective is to hack a console at the center of the map and recover intel on Blackwood's Siberia operations. As you attempt to download data, you'll have to fend off waves of enemy soldiers dropped into the area by combat helicopters. Some of those enemies will be equipped with jet packs, but you can also expect snipers, spec ops and many more of Blackwood's finest to join the hunting party.

Inside info from the level designer:

The Spearhead Siberia map is located in a snowy forest, and is totally unique in the Warface universe. It's a large level in an open environment, inspired by a Crysis-like approach to map designs. Basically the concept was built around the idea of reusing the outpost area by triggering randomized but optional tasks while defending the main objective. Various gadgets are available in your base in order to make your life easier if the team is able to collect enough resources. Exploration might be the key if you act as a team or find a calm moment.

Epic events like a sunrise or incoming foggy weather – which reduces visibility in combat – are quite unique to this map. One really powerful option is calling in an airstrike at the right moment if you want to bomb Blackwood's infantry to hell. Last but not least, a tank shows up and this boss can be taken out in different ways.

Act II – Ambush

Objective:

The Ambush map invites players to launch an assault on a ruined castle set amid the snowy mountains; a stronghold which doubles as a hi-tech control center for Blackwood's Siberian operations. At first glance it seems like a standard smash and grab assignment, but soon turns out to be a cleverly conceived trap.

Once inside the castle, players will find themselves surrounded by Blackwood operatives on every side, and will have to protect not only their lives, but also a generator that is keeping the castle defenses up and allowing team Warface to hack the systems.

If you can't work in perfect harmony as a team, it's going to be mission impossible. As with the Spearhead map, there will be opportunities to collect in-game currency and spend it on defensive items that can be positioned around the castle – from exploding poisoned barrels, to stairways that let you reach strategic new positions in a hurry.

If you make it out of the castle in one piece, you'll still have some deadly challenges to overcome – namely a Blackwood helicopter that has you firmly in its sights, as well as the spectacular avalanche it triggers upon arriving in the area.

So get your running shoes on, and get ready for some downhill racing that has more than a medal at stake. After the ambush is over, you'll be ready for Operation Cold Peak to reach its Zenith.

Inside info from the level designer:

Ambush, the second act of the Cold Peak story arc, is a high-octane, action-packed map in which Warface players will assault a fortified position, only to discover it's a well-planned trap that Blackwood forces have set up to leave no trace of the unsuspecting team.

Players will find an exciting location – a mix of old ruins and high-tech machinery – hidden in the mountains, deadly poison barrels, strategic options that change the development of the battle every time you play, a constant flow of highly-efficient enemies that will put the team's skills to the test, a gigantic snow avalanche covering the whole place and if that's not enough… a final battle with a vicious combat helicopter!

This level was conceived to make players feel cornered and pushed to the limits in an enclosed environment, so they need to support each other if they want to make it out alive… Will they?

Act III – Zenith

Objective:

The first main objective in Zenith is to protect a series of generators that are powering an elevator in the area. Players must work together to make sure that the elevator remains fully functional if they want to advance to the map's final challenges.

In order to do so, team Warface must take to the trenches – a series of sunken pathways dug out of the snow that provide perfect cover. Well, almost perfect. As Blackwood attack with everything they have (including jet packs once again), the trenches will collapse and suddenly cease to offer any advantage.

If they successfully protect the generators and board the elevator, players will advance to the next area (not without a little more fighting first, of course). This final section of Zenith is blockbuster action personified, but whether or not it has a happy ending depends entirely on your ability to work as a team.

As a huge Blackwood mech takes to the battlefield, players may be relieved to see an equally huge canon they can take charge of. This piece of heavily artillery is essential if players are to defeat the final boss of Operation Cold Peak and take down swathes of enemy soldiers en masse. It's also nice to know that if you target buildings with this all-new weapon of mass destruction, the results are every bit as explosive as you'd hope.

Inside info from the level designer:

The third and final act of the Siberian setting contains two unique things; breakable trenches and a cannon. In the trenches you will experience some crazy moments – like when you're exchanging gunfire with enemies and suddenly the walls around you start collapsing and your cover is blown to hell. This looks visually very stunning, and gives the game a nice dynamic combat environment.

For the very last part of the Siberian setting, the boss arena, we thought that the Mech was cool but in order to make the ending unique we had to introduce something new. That became the cannon. Using Warface's push interaction the players can rotate a big cannon and fire it on Blackwood buildings. We hope these destruction events will be very satisfying for players. They get the kills from the soldiers on the buildings, they avoid any more spawning on that building, and it all happens against a backdrop of simulated explosion effects. What an ending, right?

The HQ (Tower Raid)

Minimum level: 25

You are about to step into the lion's den: Blackwood's HQ. There's a lot at stake: our intelligence has tracked down the man who we believe is funding the entire Blackwood operation. He is on his way to meet with Blackwood's CEO, Ursula Ellis, to plan where they should hit next; carrying with him top secret information.

This is your chance to stop it all!

Your objective is simple: raid the tower, capture him, incapacitate him, or kill him before he leaves the building. He must not escape!

Be ready, for this is easier said than done; Blackwood's HQ holds many of their best squads determined to take you down. You will need to power through levels flooded by enemies, intense pursuits, and adrenaline-filled action that may leave you out of breath – or out of luck.

Want to live to tell the tale? Make sure you quickly find places where your enemies spawn and hide in a strategic spot from where you can safely eliminate them. Don't forget to check the balconies; it's one of the snipers' favorite hideouts. It consists of 20 levels, each of them different from the one before, but you won't have much time for sightseeing since Blackwood doesn't wait around.

Everyone in your team has to be on top of their game. One final piece of advice: have a balanced team – this might help you through some tough times.
